Our Impact

For over 30 years Social Action for Health has worked with thousands of individuals and partnered with dozens of organisations from across London. We have seen improvements in people’s wellbeing, positive changes to the way services are delivered and witnessed marginalised and under-represented communities become empowered and have their priorities heard.

years serving communities

Our roots date back to the 1980s and we are proud to continue serving the diverse communities of London.

Our Projects

We all have strengths to give to create a healthier world, at Social Action for Health we bring people together to empower and support each other.

Our way of working is to build capacity in people and communities – particularly those most affected by health inequalities. We are expert at engaging participation and then facilitating ways that people can develop their own solutions, share their expertise and see the world and opportunities in a different way.

We deliver a range of projects with and for communities across East London and beyond.

Community Research

Good research can leave communities stronger, more empowered and with the information they need to address inequalities. We use a range of different research and consultation techniques including surveys, one to one interviews, group discussions, direct and participant observation, asset mapping, desk based research and community conversations.

Support

We currently offer help, support and guidance to those affected by health and social issues through one to one advice services, group self-management courses, befriending and matching people to trained peer supporters.

Capacity building

We help individuals, organisations and communities to grow and develop. We believe that people learn best by doing and take a hands on ‘action learning’ approach to developing skills, confidence and understanding. We run consortia, build networks and deliver all of our projects in partnerships with other organisations.

Influencing

We present the voices of the community to the decision makers and influence future strategy, direction and policies. Through active engagement and convening we ensure that our community’s priorities are heard.

I am so glad that I came to know about this course. It has changed so many aspects of my life and also the lives of my children. My family, relatives and friends have also benefited…people die because they are not informed.
