The Clinical Commissioning Group(CCG) said “Patient Leader involvement in the Community Health Services (CHS) procurement has proved invaluable at all stages influencing a service contract exceeding £36 million over the potential seven-year delivery timeline. Their influence has taken place through a physical presence at a series of Dialogue days and through assessment of applications to include areas such as patient and public involvement, estates and finance. On a number of occasions, scoring has been refined to reflect Patient Leader’s feedback in the process. Their feedback on areas including access to care, integration of services, IT and staff management has provided invaluable insight into local need and experience of CHS.

Patient Leaders were involved in the Shadow People's panel and their involvement contributed to the development of the CCG’s Community Commissioning Panel which ensures residents are effectively engaged in the commissioning of services.

The Patient Leaders helped to facilitate three engagement sessions at the CCG’s Health Conversation Event, where Patient Leaders told local people about their involvement with the CCG and Healthwatch and how getting involved can help local health and social care services.

NHS Tower Hamlets Clinical Commissioning Group (CCG) is a clinically-led membership organisation set up in April 2013, its membership includes the 36 general practices in Tower Hamlets senior healthcare leaders, non-executive directors and local authority representatives.

‘The CCG is responsible for planning, buying and monitoring (a process known as commissioning) many local health services and aims to meet the needs of all local residents both now and in the future.

The CCG is committed to acting responsibly with the money we have been given to plan and pay for services in the borough, working with our partners to create a stable healthcare system for the future.

We are also committed to keeping patients at the heart of everything we do and aim to listen and act on all feedback to improve services for local residents.
